He says those who have survived...he didn't add 'and can see' though that is what he meant. Harsh. Wyndham is very much a 'survival of the fittest' type, which is one of the things I don't like about him. Even if it's the cold hard truth? I suppose I think that it's a cold hard truth he arrives at rather too quickly, and rather too gleefully. I don't think we can judge Wyndham from our post-modern standpoint. He's positing a situation and suggesting how people will deal with it - and is largely correct,, especially in those times. The questions he's asking are 'what if?' and leaving us to find our own answers. "You're not sulking, I hope?"

If everywhere was dark, being blind wouldn't be as much of a problem. THey'd probebly do better, because their senses would be more used to it.
