Classic Star Trek Rewatch #3 The Trouble with Tribbles, Thursday 3rd August
Cygnus Bazza
'Au revoir'. Lovely. France still exists in the 23rd century

How do the tribbles stick to the walls? Blu-tac feet?

The props people must have been sick of making the things.

Probably negotiated a productivity bonus

Glue dots.

I love the way the odd tribble still occasionally plops out of the grain store

That's the 23rd century right there

And with a little squeak. Brilliant.

Loving the random tribbles falling on Kirk. They overdid it in the end, but then they are Americans.

In the DS9 episode, Sisko and Dax are searching the grain store for a bomb hidden in a tribble, tossing them aside when they turn out not to be bombs. A few of them hit Kirk . . .

If they were dead tribbles, why did they squeak?

Cygnus Bazza
Klingon spy shaved off his goatee and fooled everyone. Simple but effective ruse

If they were dead tribbles, why did they squeak?

Involuntary post-mortem reflex

How would you clear up tribbles? Got to be a black bin liner job.

Cygnus Bazza
Great (if predictable) ending

I was just part-way through typing something about bin bags. Great minds, and all that.

Well, that was world-class entertainment all right. Wasted on Horizoners, of course... A bit like 'Waldorf Salad'.Smile

M1795537OCVirn
Maybe Blake should try filling a Federation pursuit ship's 'engine room' - aka 'drive' - with sopron. Or Moon discs.

Ah, the famous 'lost episode' from Series 2...

I'm still here. Just enjoying the show!

Well, I can't say it was as impressive as the first time I saw it, but time changes people. And comedy in SF has only improved since. Then, I was just blown away that instead of exploding things and killing each other, as in most previous episodes, they were having a laugh. For real.
A fun episode, as we say.

I did suggest to M1 adding 'Day of the Dove' to the list to up the Klingon content.

AnneArthur
That was fun - a nice silly episode of Star Trek!

I think it's an episode that they negotiate really well. Could easily have gone horribly wrong (in a kind of 'Sarcophagus' way) but the actors play it absolutely right.

I'm still waiting to find out if people really want eight weeks of this stuff, before adding anything else. But it could still happen. Thanks for playing, CB.

I've lost track - is it 'City' next? Pretty sure I can't do next week.

I like Sarcophagus! The Avon/Cally interaction works well, IMO.

I know I'm a minority voice on that one!

I can't do next week either - I'll still be on a train back from Macclesfield.

OK, what do we think OSP was up to tonight?

(And, for that matter, OVZ. Hope he's not ill again).

The we won't 'do'City next time. You only have to ask. The Federation exists only to serve.

Sounded like OneSparePart needs a bit of a lift. Perhaps M1 could send her a tribble.

We could all PM her pictures of them.
