S02 E06 Doomsday Machine

The Enterprise encounters a vast mechanical monster in space, which is set on a path of destruction so that whole worlds are threatened.

(Is this mechanical thing inhabited by blue people and their menials, perchance? Does it like jokes?)

I will be here although my nose is running and my eyes are itching like...a very itchy thing
Silflay hraka, u embleer rah!

M1795537OCVirn
Sounds horrendous. Nothing worse than itching. Hope the episode can take your mind off it for a while.
"You're not sulking, I hope?"

Just put some eye drops in. Well, I hope some of it actually got into my eyes, I have a terrible blink reflex...Smile
Silflay hraka, u embleer rah!

M1795537OCVirn
And a terrible drink reflex, where ALL of it goes in your mouth?
"You're not sulking, I hope?"

Hello. Meeting cancelled, so I'm here. Almost got the job, but alas just beaten by a candidate with better German, so back to square one. Sorry to hear you're feeling under the weather, OneSparePart.

I soldier on. Sorry you didn't get the job.

I take it we have started...

Poo. Sorry about the job, Anne. You wouldn't have liked Aber anyway. Probably.
OK, not sure whether CB has started his leave of absence already but shall we start?

I shall wait until you have caught up Grin

Aber seemed lovely (mind you I was seeing it under optimal conditions, in bright sunlight) but it is very remote. The three trains necessary to get there almost made me lose the will to live. Especially when the second was stopped in Crewe for 2 hours due to signal failure.

Every solar system destroyed - has Blake been there?

I assumed it was a straight away kind of thing. He never does anything by halves....

I don't remember this episode, btw, although I must have seen it.

More a series of accidents... he's quite capable of that.

You may recall it when the cornetto appears. It's a classic ep

And the redshirts are a blueshirt and a yellowshirt. That makes a change. Hope they survive!

They're all the same anyway. Kirk investigates something, Spock tries to get him to see sense, McCoy grumbles, Nurse Chappel sighs a lot and the crew member with no name dies.

Don't recall a cornetto - but perhaps when I see it . . .

Careful now. The same can be said for B7 repeated tropes

Don't I know it! At least Servalan isn't guilty of repeating herself. She always has new ideas for how she's going to win.

I don't remember the cornetto either. Is it a big orange swirly cornetto in space?

William Windom is brilliant as Decker.

Yes.

At least with Trek you get a sense of the distances they travel in

In B7 it's very inconsistent.

Cornetto time!

M1795537OCVirn
What did I miss? I had to go and see what the dog was barking about (answer: nothing, as usual).
"You're not sulking, I hope?"

AnneArthur
I remember it now! But it looks more like a hollow log than a cornetto.

AnneArthur
It is actually very like the whale probe in the fourth film.

M1795537OCVirn
Ah, the cornetto! What flavour do you think it is?

Possibly the burnt-out carcass of a Worm from Arrakis?
