Have just realised that whoever uploaded this to dailymotion didn't incliude the adverts! Excellent.

Oh that is good! I have the DVDs, so am watching on that.

M1795537OCVirn
Think I might want one of those mind-recording-thingies, too.

Trakis is a lot like Travis isn't it?

Sorry - there are all sorts of spoilers there, so I can't explain why, but I love that episode. It's also very bittersweet - we never really know how much Adira cares for Londo, and how much for his position, and I like Ivanova's secretiveness and pride.

Yes, he is. No eye patch though, and no nifty laser arm weapon - just as well, really.

That's worse than telling me!! Never mind. I'm glad for you. Enjoy!

Shall we start the next one in a couple of minutes? I'd like to get a glass of water.

AnneArthur
OK. Ready to start.

No problem. The one thing B7 didn't do very well was remembering plot details from one episode to the next. Everything was ...well. episodic (sorry) and only connected because of having the same characters. DW is even worse. I'm hoping what happens in B5 carries through into later eps.

It does, very much so. The early series are rather good at having standalone plots, while also moving various subplots forward by little incidental scenes that don't mean much at the time. I actually think B7 hangs together better than it would seem to - although I realise that that is largely accidental!

Starting.

I like it that you see the repairmen and the cleaners - mostly in the background, but they are there.

I'm glad most film-makers have ditched the thing of setting up the story and then interrupting it with the credits. Shove them at the end, where they belong, so that we can switch off and ignore them!

Chekov is still cute. Just older and more worried.

Older and more dangerous - but yes, still cute.

Absolutely.

The blonde lady has been in lots of things hasn't she?

Yes, lots of American police dramas, I think.

M1795537OCVirn
The psi corps are starting to sound a bit questionable, even if Chekov is one of them.

Yes . . .

AnneArthur
The way he lets you know he is reading your mind, when, legally, he shouldn't be.

It's another reworking of the 'power corrupts, absolute power corrupt absolutely'. Overcoming psi power is going to be difficult.

The graphics are holding up better than the dialogue so far.

Indeed it is. But here, they are not entirely in the wrong - Ironheart is clearly unbalanced, and clearly dangerous, although again it is the Psi Corps' recklessness that has made him that way.

Don't say they're human!!

One Babylon 5 fansite I have seen has sections for 'dialogue to wind back for' and 'dialogue to fast forward past' - it is patchy, to say the least.

M1795537OCVirn
Ironheart is going to burn himself out if he goes on like this.
"You're not sulking, I hope?"

There are a lot of complaints about the computer graphics, but I agree with you - I think they hold up well.

AnneArthur
I like the structure of the station - the hydroponic gardens, the core shuttle, the different sectors.

M1795537OCVirn
Do you suppose Cygnus 795 is near Cygnus Alpha (relatively)?

The alien Thing being a kind of Super-Vargas? I like it. I think it might well be quite near.

M1795537OCVirn
They're blaming Chekov for the recklessness of Psi Corps?
"You're not sulking, I hope?"

AnneArthur
This is rather a naff story, I think, but it is the first time we see Bester.

Yup.

It's only really naff when it hits concepts that neither writer nor audience have any way of conceptualising! Let alone making a physical/visual representation.

Also it might have been Sigma 579 not Cygnus anything. A pity.

The actor who played G'Kar had a lovely voice, I think.
