Sorry I vanished. I felt a ficlet coming on.... Thanks for your company tonight. Still haven't a clue what's going on, but it helps to hear what you think! I thought Checkmate made sense, although it was a story about rebellion, so maybe that's why you didn't make sense to your Federation mind  No 6 came up with a credible escape plan, to mimic being a crashed plane and therefore fool No 2 and his minions that the plane was being rescued rather the escape of the rebels. It only floundered because his own test to determine who are the guardians and who are the prisoners was used back on him and the rook thought he was a guardian. There you go, I've actually explained something later. I won't get in the habit of it, though
