Glad I watched it, though.

After the first few episodes, it started being too predictable for me. This is what comes of giving one man the power to create something from the depths of his subconscious! It caused so much controversy, but McGoohan had to leave the country for a bit. He couldn't go out in the street for people grilling him about the final episode! Vote Og.

I think 7 is too high! Just my opinion
I look behind me, what do I see? A pair of golden wings seem to be attached to me.

I think there's a huge difference between the episodes before he had the break to the ones after it. Almost as if he'd run out of (sensible) ideas and was glad to get to the end. Glad I watched it, though. There are some cracking episodes... goes a bit off the rails at the end. Although I will always love The Girl Who Was Death... that was almost turned into a 90-minute special. Vote Og.

I still rate it as one of the best tv series I have ever seen. As much as some of the eps annoy, it does challenge your thinking

I found the first part of that pretentious, but the last 10 minutes or so were oddly exhilarating. Although that he himself was number 1 was kind of unsurprising. |

It could of course be a metaphor for retirement . . . Perhaps that is just me being bitter. A friend has taken early retirement - I wish I could afford to! |

I don't think it helped when George Markstein departed and wasn't around to write/script edit. He was the one who was a proper writer... and always in the scene with McGoohan at the start of each episode when No 6 resigns! Vote Og.

I preferred the earlier episodes, I think. But maybe that's just because I like Portmeiron. |

OK, let's send TT off to his Speedway season with a hearty thank you for the Prisoner, and try to decide what to watch next. Lorna - any ideas?

Hope the Prisoner was an okay choice, despite the way it ends. IMO earlier episodes such as The Chimes Of Big Ben, Many Happy Returns and Checkmate are the Prisoner working so well to its format... before anything goes in the final 5 episodes or so! Vote Og.

If half of us are not here next time, maybe we should take a week off? I was wondering about 'Voyage to the bottom of the sea'. It's at least as silly as the Prisoner, DW, ST or any of them. And earlier. And quite scary sometimes. Presumably we can find a B7 connection somewhere... "You're not sulking, I hope?"

That final episode will never give any answers. Even the No 6 = No 1 only works as a metaphor (you are your own worst enemy), it doesn't make any narrative sense. But yeah, I love the overall series. Even quite like the final episode, as weird as it is. Vote Og.

And one thing I forgot to say... did anyone else spot how the front door of No 6's door opens electronically as the Butler enters it at the end... just as it would in the Village?
