'I'm glad you've come. It'll be lovely for me'. It's the sort of thing Servalan might have said. Do you think she has a look of an elderly Servalan about her? Or maybe an ancestor?? I like that! ![]() |

The books are based on a real house, at Hemingford Grey near Cambridge - I wonder if that's where it's filmed? No, they chose somewhere in Suffolk. "You're not sulking, I hope?"

These stories move things on so quickly without seeming to. Great writing, and looks like being a decent adaptation.

And we've missed him finding the St Christopher statue. You'd better do a quick resume! I don't really remember - I think there was an old statue of St Christopher in the books. And a sinister topiary Noah, if I remember rightly. I think that was the 'and what else' that the great-grandmother was asking about. The St Christopher was a good thing, a counterpart to the bad Green Noah. Edited by AnneArthur on 15-08-2024 19:31 |

They're trying hard to recreate that atmospheric feel.

That was the Green Noah, I think - they've made it more of a carving, less topiary. |

The names Toseland and Tolly are so familiar to me, I think I must have read the books as a child. I devoured every book that came my way.
