TIME: 7.45pm Now this is scary. (Although I don't think M'Bob will be impressed). Peter Vaughan is brilliant. The 'hotel' in which his character stays is still there apparently. You won't catch me spending a night there. https://archive.org/details/a-warning...he-curious Location filming: the story is set in and around Aldeburgh, Suffolk. Filming was done in part there, partly in Holkham, further north. The hotel is in Wells-Next-The-Sea. Edited by OneSparePart on 28-11-2024 21:00 Silflay hraka, u embleer rah!

Great little version - haven't watched it since Covid lockdown. Heavens, that seems a long time ago. Not sure it was actually filmed in Aldeburgh (a favourite spot of mine), but may have that wrong. Could well be misremembering. |

Just rewatching it now, as I 'couldn't wait'. Eff me, that's wall-to-wall creepy. Better have a trained paramedic on standby for OSP on Thursday. Might book one for myself, too. |

Could well be misremembering. They used different regions for very specific locations in the story. I'm not sure you could recognise the Aldeburgh area from a set of woods or a bog or what have you. Only the cottage used for the hotel is a place you can really pinpoint to a map. Silflay hraka, u embleer rah!

I have kept my Only Fools and Horses box set handy for next week. I could have chosen Porridge but Peter Vaughan plays Grouty in that and I don't want to get PTSD... Silflay hraka, u embleer rah!

I have kept my Only Fools and Horses box set handy for next week. Oh dear... Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear... This is already getting a bit spooky! Genuinely, when I was rewatching this yesterday pm and Paxton visits the church on the coast and has a natter with the vic, the FIRST thing that popped into my head was OFAH. Specifically, the bit at the end of Freddie the Frog where they visit that church on the coast (which obvs isn't) and do the pointing out to sea, "the sea shall not have it" stuff. Coincidence? What are the chances? Ooo...errr... Forces beyond our ken. Whoever Ken is. They used different regions for very specific locations in the story. I'm not sure you could recognise the Aldeburgh area from a set of woods or a bog or what have you. I've seen many an Aldeburgh bog, as it happens. Lol!!! I'm sure you're 100% right but I actually didn't get an Aldeburgh 'vibe' from any of it. Not remotely a problem, mind - whatever bits of terrain they used were absolutely wonderful. |

Having (barely) survived my 'pre-watch' on Saturday, I can categorically declare that this little ingot of TV gold nevertheless showcases some absolutely p*ss-poor trowel technique. |

How good would your trowel technique be if you had mr mysterious dogging your every move? Dogging as in tracking your every move not in the modern meaning..... Silflay hraka, u embleer rah!

Hello M'Virn. I have been wondering...do you ever get the chills watching a spooky film? What is it that gets you going, fear wise?

What would your friend Doug have said about that? He wouldn't care, as long as everyone admired his Batti. Greetings, gang. Who’s up for an angsty East Anglian evening? |

Hello M'Virn. I have been wondering...do you ever get the chills watching a spooky film? What is it that gets you going, fear wise? Don't really go for 'spooky', because it doesn't do much for me, and fear-wise...I really don't like seeing people in danger of drowning... but if what I'm watching is fiction it isn't real anyway. Depends how well it's done, I suppose. "You're not sulking, I hope?"

Trees are amazing things. Can't see how people can find them 'threatening' just becaue they have weird shapes.
