CRUD CLUB: QUIXOTIC THIRD REWATCH
Cygnus Bazza
Nothing wrong with being third. Unless you’re a king called Richard. As for Crud Club, we can justifiably claim to have evolved, through our first two sessions, into a (very) well-oiled crud-crunching, crap-crushing MACHINE. So, as we stride towards 2025, full of confidence and Lidl lager, I call you to order for our third shindig and solemnly declare:

LET’S DO THIS!

Time/date: 7.45pm (GMT), Wednesday 22nd January 2025.

Event: It’s the big one. Or, at least, the bigfoot one. And, crucially (or, should I say, mercifully), it only lasts an hour so there’ll be more than enough time to get a life once it’s finished.

Yeah, But What Actually Is It? Teenagers Battle the Thing (59 mins). OSP’s hot recommendation, which was based on a hot recommendation, which was no doubt based on a hot recommendation etc etc ad infinitum, nauseam et insaniam. Seems the movie was ‘rebranded’, having originally gone by the title The Curse of Bigfoot and dating from 1958 or 1963, depending on who/what you believe. Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M2f3u...2f3uhgSSHs

Synopsis: I watched a few minutes where some bloke bangs on about hominid evolution and the Plasticine (my favourite geological epoch), but I stopped when the monster appeared ‘cos I didn’t want to ‘spoil it’. Clearly a classic of its kind – a phrase where ‘of its kind’ does an awful lot of the heavy lifting.

Interestingly, this is in M1’s all-time top 20 movie list, just behind Karlheinz Martin’s inter-war Expressionist masterpiece Von Morgens bis Mitternachts and just ahead of Terry and June: The Movie. Quite a trio. Must make for a very full and really rather remarkable evening’s viewing chez M1.

I just hope it lives "up" to the hype provided by Tarquin Fin-tim-lin-bin-whin-bim-lim-bus-stop-F'tang-F'tang-Olé-Biscuitbarrel Bazza.

On my YT today I spotted 'Planet Earth versus the Flying Saucers'. Anyone seen this? Is it crudworthy, or does it have an actual plot?

It sounds like what they call 'Earth vs the Flying Saucers' here. It's a good one and the aliens are a bit spooky. Good special effects either by Ray Harryhausen or someone who is copying him. It's worthy of the crud club.

LOL! (But not actually out loud, of course.) First General Election I voted in ('83), the Raving Loony Party candidate in our constituency actually changed his name to this. Policies included 'repatriate the Normans'. Didn't get in. Shame, cos he'd have fitted right in with the govt of the day.

Signing in for another wildly exciting/horrifying/whatever night with the Crud Club. OSP's idea, eh? Should be a laugh.

You still get the blame. Who knows, it might be brilliant!. Teenagers often seem to be 'against' things anyway.

No, but they might have been snowed in, or frozen. It's pretty cold in the USA right now.
