Thursday 21st August Legend of Robin Hood Episode 4
M1795537OCVirn
Start time 7.45pm (BST)

Episode 4
Robin and his men (not sure how merry they are at this point) are now a force to be reckoned with. Marion still has a soft spot for Huntingdon, so it's not all gloom and doom. However, the Sherriff, Guy and Prince John will stop at nothing, it seems. What will happen next? Join us to find out.

Mary Whitehouse and the National Viewers' and Listeners' Association attacked The Legend of Robin Hood, saying the programme displayed "extreme violence and sadism" and was not suitable for children. One shot in the programme - of a dead man with blood on his face - was singled out for particular criticism by the NVLA. The BBC defended the show by stating that it had been approved by senior BBC executives, and had also been promoted as a programme for parents and children to watch together, with "something for everybody" to enjoy. Discussing the controversy, television historian James Chapman stated: "Viewed today, The Legend of Robin Hood does not seem particularly violent, certainly not in comparison to "Arthur of the Britons".

I wonder whether Mrs W ever fired any ire at 'Children of the Stones'? Or maybe scaring the cr*p out of kids was OK, as long as no actual blood-letting was involved.

Cygnus Bazza
Into the woods we go! I'll grab a picnic table!

Back in the day, whatever she hated, we watched.
Nowadays, I can't even stand those horribly crude deodorant adverts....

She'd probably have banned you for saying cr*p. The YT robot now highlights anything too red, like blood, just in case. One YT creator (who works with livestock) worked out that if she put a sepia filter on any red bits, like when aimals were giving birth, they didn't get cut.

Civil war never sounds that bad. Keep it civil. War with decorum. Manners cost nothing.

Hello. My computer is just updating - always does this when I'm in a hurry! I've just been watching a trailer for King and Conqueror, and it would appear that there is a bath scene, not dissimilar to the one featuring Mr Darrow we saw the other week.

Hail, other fellow non-watchers. All this messing about in the woods is getting a bit monotonous.

Good Hollywood-style fight scene. Tuck must have learnt his moves from the Order of Clooney.

(This is a fabulous joke. Trust me. Might need to wait for AA to catch up...)
