Difficult to sign up to their rules when most of the rules are going to have to change anyway in the face of a changing situation.

Wyndham is very much a 'survival of the fittest' type, which is one of the things I don't like about him.

Even if it's the cold hard truth?

It's claustrophobic all around isn't it?

I suppose I think that it's a cold hard truth he arrives at rather too quickly, and rather too gleefully.

M1795537OCVirn
OK - are we waiting till 20 past for episode 4?
"You're not sulking, I hope?"

OneSparePart
I will have to re read some Wyndham to see how I find his writing after so many years since I last picked one of his books up.

Oh I had nearly started a la instructions of TT.

Yes, here we are - women must have babies, men must work. We can support women who can't see, not men who can't see. URGH. They don't have enough food for themselves, why are they prioritizing producing more hungry mouths at once?

I don't think we can judge Wyndham from our post-modern standpoint. He's positing a situation and suggesting how people will deal with it - and is largely correct,, especially in those times. The questions he's asking are 'what if?' and leaving us to find our own answers.

I'm still two minutes to go on episode 3 - and we have a fire. Oh joy.

This is a much foreshortened tv series version.

So when do you want to start episode 4?

Yes, those wouldn't have been my answers, though - am I allowed to say that?

So, who is holding our hero prisoner?

M1795537OCVirn
Anne - you can say whatever you like: that's why we have a Forum! I hope I'd find different solutions, too, but who knows?
"You're not sulking, I hope?"

Whether you like Wyndham or not, he gets us asking difficult questions. Maybe there is no right or wrong answers

The blind leading the sighted. The blind fight back

The Blake substitute is just the same as the original.

If everywhere was dark, being blind wouldn't be as much of a problem. THey'd probebly do better, because their senses would be more used to it.

The hotel is terribly Fawlty Towers.

Bill, Alf and Ted. The flowerpot men?

This community is going nowhere fast. What happens when the food runs out. Is Coker thinking about that?

He's still thinking that there will be a rescue.

Why is the punk shooting? Is he a cannibal?

M1795537OCVirn
Because there's always going to be someone like the guy with a gun...

Call me cynical but I would never believe someone would be there to rescue me from a situation like this.
