You'd better do a quick resume!

I don't really remember - I think there was an old statue of St Christopher in the books. And a sinister topiary Noah, if I remember rightly. I think that was the 'and what else' that the great-grandmother was asking about.

The St Christopher was a good thing, a counterpart to the bad Green Noah.

This bit is rather reminiscent of Black Beauty, I think!

I got really caught up in the story then. I 've been meaning to read this for a while now.

It's not a long book, and it's really atmospheric.

They're trying hard to recreate that atmospheric feel.

Oh I see - it's a T-shaped bit of wood.

This lad is really very good as Tolly

Don't forget - save Eps 3 and 4 for next week!!

That was the Green Noah, I think - they've made it more of a carving, less topiary.

The names Toseland and Tolly are so familiar to me, I think I must have read the books as a child. I devoured every book that came my way.

Ha! the girl who plays Linnet was Kitty Bennet in Pride and Prejudice.

Why not just read them like normal people?

He isn't at all how I used to imagine Tolly, but somehow he's just right.

I thought I recognised the name!

It's certainly left me wanting more. Thanks for suggesting it Anne.

If I could put a picture of hollyhocks here, I would.

Absolutely. I loved this sort of reading as a kid. Still do, in my heart.

I recognized the name, and thought she was a Bennet sister.

I'm so glad you both like it - it has felt very self-indulgent to me to suggest it. And yes, it's exactly the sort of thing I loved watching as a child.

I feel so chilled out now. Have a good evening, all.

That was exactly the pick-me-up I needed. Have a good evening - see you next week!

There's a faint possibility I will have to be social next Thursday - my brother is visting from the USA and is using us as his B&B for a few days while he's visiting friends in this area - but I don't know how long he'll be here.

Thanks for a great rewatch, both.

It's a pity they didn't adapt more of the Green Knowe books, though there is a movie version "From Time to Time".
