At the age of around 12. I couldn#t even do 800m without feeling ill. The 30-mile hop would have killed me.

I’ll bet M1’s school song was something in Latin about subduing smaller nations. Sanctus clavis fores aperit, actually. But which fores does the sanctus clavis open? The holy ones of knowledge, supposedly. "You're not sulking, I hope?"

By clashing with evening mass, Ian Ogilvy’s ‘The Return of the Saint’ was instrumental in my teenage quasi-excommunication from the Catholic Church, alongside a ruck with Father Alberic about transubstantiation and papal infallibility. That explains everything. All the naughtiest kids in my senior school were catholic. Silflay hraka, u embleer rah!

I reckon German teams used those smelling salts on Jeux Sans Frontieres. Explains their relentless mastery of the Fil Rouge. |

Ha ha ha, I've just been looking up my old school's 'Archive' of Form photos - and there aren't any of my lot from the years I was there! Honest! (I must be in a couple of the whole school ones, but you'd need a magnifying glass to spot any individual).
